no one spotted this G3WO?

looks like one of those really ratty mid east imports but it has a uk tax disc expired in 1962

looks to be all there, as far as I can see, looks to have been painted with a tar brush by a blind man in a dark cellar.

Re: no one spotted this G3WO?

No photo of the frame number, nor of the original UK number plate...and if it had been on the road in the UK in 1962, it would have had a civilian registration and not the 'YA' sequence on the front plate - still compulsory at that time.

Lots of bike dealers also deal in number plates... Caveat emptor and all that but it might just be that the tax disc is a red herring and relates to time spent as a registration number 'mule'. I'd certainly be checking for multiple frame number stamps.

Re: no one spotted this G3WO?

middle east was my first thought, but if that tax disc is a dud someones done a good job on it.

its had a left side sidecar on it at some time, and is very rusty for the desert, I'm wondering if its not a Left over from one of those 50s/60s war films props dept?

you know the sort of films that alway had White half tracks dress up as wehrmacht kit

Re: no one spotted this G3WO?

The owner responded and told me that the frame number is 3048, which makes it an early G3WO. I am surprised that no one has bid on it as it seems fairly complete and good value to me. John

Re: no one spotted this G3WO?

19YA55 has the frame number John quotes, was sold off in 1957 at FTM[I}3516 where that may be??? no further details, exept (rebuilt) C number was C1431738.

Typical rebuild with small headlamp, late handlebar clips, G3L engine, G3 cylinder, with G3L head!

Also G3L petrol tank, more like this one have surfaced over the years, but think there's a lot of rust under the paintjob. (Caunter scheme slate grey under it??)

If I had the money.....

Cheers,

Lex

Re: no one spotted this G3WO?

I know this seller, he always asks top whack for stuff of sometimes average quality. From the low starting bid I would imagine this is a very rusty non runner ie a real money pit!
