The Bay to Birdwood vintage run was held down here in sunny Adelaide, South Australia, this past Sunday. With about a 1,000 pre-1956 cars bikes and commercial vehicles taking part in a 70km run from the foreshore down at Glenelg up through the hills to the National Motor Museum at Birdwood.

There were plenty of M20's and M21's out on the run, including my 1941 M20 that is still a work in progress. I spent most of the week leading up to the run working on getting it going, as my 1942 M20 outfit is still in bits. I'm proud to say that whilst I passed many expired cars and bikes on the run, I didn't join them!

The Civilianised M20 was being riden by the Grandson of the original owner. With Learner plates, he is just beginning his vintage bike experience!

A nice trio of heavily accessorised army BSAs. These guys (and gal) had come down from Brisbane, QLD, for the run. They didn't ride the bikes all that way though (some two thousand kilometres).

That looks like a great event you have there in SA.

That isn't an Army Duck, it's a Ford GPA also known by it's nickname The Seep.
Ford was the only producer of it, it has nearly all the same running gear of the Ford GPW jeep with a hull. Ben Carlin from Perth WA, went around the world in his modifed GPA called Half Safe, on display in Guildford Perth.

Thanks for the correction, Dave. I didn't know exactly what it was.

It kept up a good pace on the run and through the hills though. It was great to ride with as it got a lot of attention and the girls in the back were having a great time waving to everyone.

Nice photos...and good to see a few BSA singles with sidecars attached...In reality working as a sidecar 'tug' was what many of them ended up doing...Ian
