Chris I already put a shout out on the for sale/wants page. (no replies) I also spoke to Dave about sending me the crankcases for my engineer to look at. I think he is going to speak to you about it. Ron
I'm sure someone off the forum offered me some, but for the life of me I can't remember who it was, it was in a completely different conversation. If anyone on the forum was that person, please get in touch again
I only have spare post-war crankcases (possibly)..............
The difference is that post-war (1945/46) the big-end assembly was strengthened, and the cases to match............the differences are primarily internal, externally they look identical.............BUT, you cannot interchange wartime flywheels with post-war crankcases and vice-versa............
Genuine wartime crankcases are rather thin, in that they used the minimum of aluminium alloy in the casting........if you look at the cases, particularly the drive-side, it has an almost "web" effect..........post-war, the gaps were filled in...........makes no difference to performance however..........
In fact, the post-war crankcase strengthening was blue-printed in 1943 (I have the documents) but was not introduced into production until post-war..........
