Ben, are you looking at any particular location or period ? Some NZ units were issued Nortons during their brief period in the UK during the latter part of 1940 and they also had some in the Middle East. I've not seen any evidence of them using Nortons in Italy.

Yes Dave, and if you zoom in, it's not clamped to the frame. More like it's just dangling on the wires. The forward facing horn has been swivelled also........Sad aren't we Ron

presumably someone rotated the horn back, when mine moves of its own accord it is always forwards with resultant interesting steering while it plays a tattoo on the back of the front guard

Thanks for the photo and info Rik. I was thinking about New Zealandizing my 16h project but was looking more for something later war (44ish). Might need a little more research and rethinking on my part!

Ben, I've got no late-war or even pannier-equipped photos of Nortons in use with NZ forces but if you're there and have a later machine then presumably they had some, for home-service at least.

They were certainly being sent to the Far East and India...but photos from there are few and far between.

If you're in NZ then I'd suspect that museum archives are your best bet. Even nowadays, there are generally huge quantities that are not on line.

I am a New Zealander but I live in Canada. I have plenty of time to dig further so thanks again for your input...... Maybe building a Canadian machine would make more sense!

Ben, the Canadians carried on using Nortons on a huge scale right up to the end...and judging by the number of surviving photographs, they seem to have been somewhat better at self-publicity than the Kiwis.

Broadly speaking, all the Commonwealth forces used the same 'Arm of Service' serials and colours. I don't think that anyone would pick you up on a New Zealand formation sign, although these should have been discontinued on motorcycles (Tha Canadians don't seem to have done, though).

Are you guys positive that's the cutout??? I've been straining my eyes at it and certainly cant make an MCR1 out of it.
