Which BSA speedo bracket?

I have two just about similar girder fork speedo meter brackets but they are slightly different. Both can do the job on my BSA M20 but which one to choose.

Anybody any idea what is what and are they in fact both BSA? The drawing in the parts list doesn't help much.

Re: Which BSA speedo bracket?

Henk, I think left is Norton (is it for sale? need one for the 16H)

From the 16H parts list;

And right is BSA.

Re: Which BSA speedo bracket?

Hi Henk

I don't know the answer but are the mounting holes bigger on the right hand one?

Re: Which BSA speedo bracket?

Hi Rob,

The holes of the black one are indeed quite a bit wider than the khaki coloured one.

Re: Which BSA speedo bracket?

Is it possible the extra middle hole is for the "D" shaped speedo?

Can check that tomorrow, had not thought of that!! the "D" speedo came out in '39 I believe??

Re: Which BSA speedo bracket?

Go for it, Henk. One more Norton component on the forks won't make any difference !

That extra hole and the top one do indeed line up with the D shape speedo studs so that must be it.

BSA went modern with using these brackets, no more ancient dinosaur speedo brackets as Norton kept using
