A friend of mine wants to buy an Armours pre-war fishtail silencer for his BSA single but the rear fishtail piece goes inside the outlet which armours insist is right. Anyone know here? Seems strange to me. I would suggeat they should go over the outlet.

The ones I have seen came inside of the outlet, as far as I remember.

If you take a look at this Empire Star Silencer photo,

Though not mentioned, it looks like the rear end diameter is bigger than the tail.

I believe that the logic is to have a cleaner connection.

If the tail was on top of the outlet, you would get a place to catch rust and dirt,
And it was less smooth.

When it's in, all you can see is only the tail sticking out. (?)

Oh well we'll take it as it comes. Just goes against normal practice.With the armour system exhaust gases could escape around the inside to outside?That's why the inlet goes inside not outside? Any way Armours quote 85 quid plus postage. We shall be the guinea pigs!
