ATA Motorcycles

I was wondering if anyone has ever restored a motorcycle as an ATA ( Air Transport Auxiliary) bike? I assume they must have had a few and whether there are any photos around. I if not does anyone have any ideas what the markings might have looked like. Living near White Waltham as I do, I thought it might be an interesting thing to do. I tried to search ATA on the forum but just came up with Ron's post entitled Girls on Bikes which has a photo of my rare split skirt Norton Big 4. JT

Re: ATA Motorcycles

Well Graham and Lou have done research on the subject John. They've been to the ATA museum and got some pictures I believe. Ron

Re: ATA Motorcycles

I once asked the same question to an historian connected to White Waltham and he told me that many of the ATA men and women had motorcycles, but they were all their own civilian machines and he had never seen any evidence of official military issue motorcycles. Which makes sense I suppose, they were a civilian organisation and not part of the RAF weren't they? I'd be very interested to see any images there may be out there.
