G'day there, just got a crinkle hub pat.No.570256(only the hub )and 2 brake drums both 6 bolt, both have two differnt size bearings one is : 1" x 2.25" x 5/8" 48t sprocket and the other is: 7/8 x 2 x 9/16 46t .The bloke told me its a Type 11 , it has a grease nipple in it and he said only the type 11 had the nipple my question is, i have to by bearings ,axle spacers etc , but before i do M Question is : will it fit in my 1950 rigid frame? and if so where do i look for all the pt numbers.

Hi Johnny..The 'crinkle' hub wheels were made in slightly different versions for plunger A,B and M Series bikes, A50s/65s, The WDB40 and other unit singles...

Using the standard crinkle hub parts they won't fit the rigid frame....I have one fitted to my rigid B33 but made all new spindle, spacers etc. etc. as well as using the earlier brakeplate to get it to fit...

If you were to go down this route what, exactly, you would have to do would depend on which version of the crinkle hub you start with...

The two wheels that fit straight to your frame (assuming you are talking about an M20/M21 or M33) are the 'WD' type with separate bolted on brakedrum (3 bolts and three driving pegs so 6 holes in the hub) or the later post war version of this wheel which has the drum riveted to the hub and uses a different spindle and wheel nuts...

This later wheel is quite rare, at least in the UK, so the WD wheel would be the best option to go for...You will also need the matching brake torque arm if you don't have it....Ian
