Gary, it's certainly not one that I've seen before. It would be quite useful to know the title and publication date....and where the original negatives are !

There are 15 books in total and there are a lot of Photographs that are to terribly Horrific to show ! but all aside as i trull through the books i will post more pics ! If anyone is offended please let me know and i will stop posting them !! Just one small point with the scans & photos.
Could you please put a dark sheet in behind the page being scanned or photographed ?
This stops the print on the reverse side bleeding through into the side being copied.
I use the black plastic cover of an old loose leaf refill book as it is very robust , flat & stiff.
The reproduction house that showed me this trick used matt black background paper.
It really makes a huge diference particularly when copying from news print.
If scanning then you can adjust the white point to any unprinted place on the page and thiis will lighten the image.

Gary, your first picture from today (with the Viking Longship sign) shows the new 16Hs delivered to 5 Corps Signals. A copy of this appears in Jack Dienst's book 'A Civilian in Uniform' - he was in the line-up. However, this reproduction is much better than in his self-published book, with many more census numbers visible.

Would there be any chance of photographing it flatter without the flash reflection and perhaps with black card behind, as suggested above. I'd really appreciate as good a copy as you can get out of this one.

That picture also appears in "The British Army at War" Brigadier E.D.H. Tollemache, DSO, MC, ADC. Printed in August 1941.
