Another nice event on the way;
70th commemoration of Market Garden (20th of Sep) and the way to it (Hells Highway).
In the week (15 - 19th of Sep)before the parachute droppings on the Ginkel heath there will be many events related to Market Garden in The Netherlands.
As there's always a group WD bike owners at Hartenstein (Airborne Battle Wheels) or on the side of the Rhine, others who normally don't attend me be present this year (just like Normandy).
Perhaps we can catch up somewhere? I know it will be busy, but every year I see pictures afterwards of people I would like to have met but missed on the day itself.
Hopefully I'll be there this year once the ferry is sorted. I am doing the XXX Corps convoy up from Joe's Bridge. I'll be on the bike with the artillery, make your self known if you see us. As you say it will be good to put a face to a name. Same goes for anyone else in the area. There are another half dozen bikes registered for the convoy, anyone else from on here?
Booked my ferry earlier this week, we are going via Dunkirk, something WW1 then up the corridor for the weekend at Oosterbeek, then back via Wipers and a visit to the Menin gate on the way home.
I'm taking a Mk5 bicycle strapped on the back of the car, much easier as its a long long way from Devon.
Ofcourse, I will be on the Airborne Battle Wheels Oosterbeek campsite with my Beesaa. Hope to meet some forum members in person. On the friday and saturday we have a sort of a carbootsale for participants of our campsite. Ofcourse you will all be welcome to visit us. The carbootsale is from 16.30 PM untill 19.00 PM.
I will see you there then! What Unit markings have you on your machines? I've had to switch 2nd Army to suit the guns we are portraying for the event. Must be nice to have a wide choice to pick from! :-)
I'm going to do the tour of the 20th with the OMG2014 group.(arrival on the 19th in de afternoon, in Veghel)
But I saw the XXX-corps group is going to Groesbeek for the para drop the 18th. Can some one tell me what time/place the para drop is? I live very close to Groesbeek. I would like to come with the BSA and watch the drop.
The only info I have seen is that it is some time between 10.00 and 13.00 hrs. Sorry , but no more specific location than
