NOB week

Well the M20's been on its first 150 miles and is singing like a bird, all's running well, you come out of the house with a smile from ear hole to ear hole as you know the delights in which you're going to experience . Country lanes back roads sun is shinning well most of the week ,and at some stage you have to show an appearance on an A Road ,, then they appear !! Why is it when ever you go out on a jolly every cock in creation is out on the road as well as you . oh theres a bike lets cut him up or even better lets test the brakes on that old bike and pull out on him .. then when you'v call them every thing under the sun and shook your fist in frustration they go whats the matter with him
thank god for country lanes worcestershire is covered in them so thankfully not manny A Roads are frequented oh well back to work for the rest of the week until the week end . If anyone is in the area, in or on a vintage . SPETCHLEY is on they are having a theme of war time right from the middle ages till WW2 lots of vehicles and Long arrows Battle axes (not the wife) rifles and field pieces and much moor. its just of the M5 j7 towards Evesham

Re: NOB week

it happens even you are riding a modern bike there is always the idiot sitting on your offside quarter about 3 feet behind you I usually signal them pass I am thinking of getting a helmet camera an having a reflective jacket with see you on you tube on the back but I still don't think this will work

Re: NOB week

Roger I think the best thing to do is just tell them off, as anything else just doesn't seem to sink in !!! I ride with a High viz , white helmet lights on and i doesnt make a blind bit of diference . I think when they get behind that wheel they go into mongole mode, tunnel vision with there blinkers on ! they may as well sit there dribbling with a balloon and licking the window

Re: NOB week

Hi Gary,
the roads are full of them I am still off work after some one pulled out in front of me on 1/6/14 bike is a mess Damaged a nerve in my left shoulder and the physio says I might never get the full use of my arm back so no more motorcycle riding and the end of a forty year long hobby and passion. heard on the radio yesterday 30 motorcyclists a day are injured or killed on the roads. take care everyone.

Re: NOB week

Hi Ian..Ignore statistics when presented in that simplistic fashion.....they don't mean anything unless they are broken down into exact, defined, categories of injury etc....EG..'30 a day killed or injured'..

Is that one a day killed?...30 a day? less than one a day over the year?...Were the remainder seriously injured, lightly injured etc?..

Ignoring all that though I agree no accident is good and you need to be pretty careful these days. I'm very sorry to hear you seem to have got an outcome that is not what's needed...

Of course, nerve damage is a strange thing and you can never be entirely sure just to what degree you will recover...Best wishes with it....Ian

Re: NOB week

thanks Ian

Re: NOB week

Ian ,

Very easy to say I agree , but please dont be too despondent regarding the nerve
damage prognosis .. without going into too much detail I have been terribly badly injured with nigh on all limbs broken & had same prognosis , If I took it to heart I ought not to be walking , wont pretend to have recovered completely over the last 30 some years but I get by reasonably
well for the most part .. nerve damage takes a long time & can be agonising but eventually settles to the stage where it becomes at least bearable & life can be enjoyed .

Best of luck & hope You manage a full recovery ,

Steve ...

Re: NOB week

Hi Ian , I can sympathise with you . Just a little over 10 years ago i had a bad smash , all down to a 19 year old lad that had just passed his test , fortunately i was in a four by four as the impact was a 110 mph or so the police said with there forensics! anyway i broke my back and was told i had a 60/40% chance of not walking again , imagine hearing that as your lay on your back at the age of 35 with a wife and three children i think my hart sank into my feet ,,, I am so pleased that they were wrong I'm back on my feet with just a little back pain now and again worse in the winter . It took a long time so please don't be disheartened and don't get rid of the bike !! hope you get better soon as , and take it stead all the best and kind regards Gary

and i guess this is why i get waspy with folk who cut me up all it take is a split second of lake of concentration i wish i could say leave the house 10 mins early so you don't have to rush and take chances > Would they listen though ???
