The right tool would be a bog standard AJS 7R that would just smash the record, its only 60 something. It's enough to make you cry.
I just remembered he's persuaded Mettisse to build a "bobber" frame for the engine. It'l be on ebay soon no doubt.
I've just been searching the internet to see if he's beaten the record but I couldn't find out. I'm guessing they've done it as the program is on TV..?

The comment on the picture says "The basis for our land speed record bike has just arrived a lovely 3HW triumph! She's there to model our race bike on so no fear I would never customise her!" So from that it sounds like they aren't going to rip that bike apart to make another. Maybe he's not such a twat after all They would still be better off with an AJS or 350 Manx as Keith says.

So now he's 'building' a record breaker but can't tune an engine....I thought with his skills he'd do that 'in the back yard with an angle grinder' as well...
He's probably got a small army of 'helpers' in the background...

Hi Mick...No results as yet as the bike isn't completed..but then I knew it wouldn't be an easy or a quick project.
Unlike Henry that sort of project wasn't how I earned my living and I wasn't paid for doing it or supplied with helpers...and there was no bike. It has been built up entirely from parts...
I have had to find the money, which is a considerable amount, and the time for everything myself and nearly every part is modified in some way or is a one off component...
Frankly, although I have done a lot of work on it, it hasn't been at the top of my list of priorities since I started it...
Now I have retired I am finding more time for the project and have every intention of getting it done...and I've tuned a lot of BSA engines to date with good results (and no engine tuner on hand)...Ian
