With the bike running it's time to do the wiring. I looked on the website and see Henk has posted a clear and legible wiring diagram- with negative earth. Elsewhere I've seen similar diagrams with positive earth. Who should I follow, Henk or the Service Sheets?

Jeff there was a period during the 50'and 60's were vehicle manufacturers changed to a positive earth system. It was an erroneous believe that it helped to combat battery terminal corrosion. Everything reverted back to Neg earth again of course. Ron

Jeff - Have a look at the 1948 section of BSA Service Sheet 808 it shows negative earth.

Hi Jeff...Which regulator do you have?..If you have a Joe Lucas one the system can be set up to run either way...

If you have an electronic regulator you must wire up to suit the polarity of the unit...Ian
