Re: Website picture

I think it might be a pale of grease...I have an ex WD 5 litre tin that looks very similar...

It could be paint...though what she might be doing with it is anyones guess.

These propaganda photos of plucky young women helping the war effort were frequently 'staged' for the camera...'Here Luv..Sit there and hold this brush like you are doing something'....

I always have a laugh at the blokes with the special screwdriver that they use for pointing at things (not necessarily screws) or for resting on various parts of the bike as required by the cameraman....

How did we win the war?...Surely not by pointing screwdrivers at German tanks?... ...Ian

Re: Website picture

And tyre pressure markings on an early bike One original picture is all I need! Now where's that picture of a Morris PU8/4 with the BEF? Ron

Re: Website picture

But the bike in the background isn't an 'early' one..

So it isn't an early photo and the TP could have been applied recently?...Ian

Re: Website picture

Ron, the photo shows a woman bricked-up in a cellar. That means it's post-war and Austria !

One of these days, I'm going to prove that PU8/4s were only issued to The Salvation Army as tea-wagons !

Re: Website picture

I think if this was one of the WW2 staged propaganda shots, they would probably have asked her to cheer up, look a bit more interested in what she was doing and seem like she was doing her bit for the winning team?

Re: Website picture

It dose look like she's in an old brick factory. She has a cloth in her other hand, so perhaps she's just cleaning mud off with petrol or water in readiness for the workshop to work on the bikes. Neither bike has number plates, so I guess it's war time. Ron
