Paignton Bike Night 13th August

After a brief conversation with Colin H this evening we have decided to make an effort to get as many WD bikes together as possible on one of the regular Wednesday bike nights in Paignton.

13th of August looks clear if anyone fancies it.

Re: Paignton Bike Night 13th August

I'd have been tempted but I'm away again that week. Has anyone tried Poole bike night on a Tuesday?

Re: Paignton Bike Night 13th August

Yep. I got fed up with looking at about 2000 modern bikes and the same few classics. However, it's about time I revisited it, in case something different or interesting turns up. It's only about 3 miles away. Ron

I read in Motorcycle News that modern bikes are really interesting... ....Ian

Re: Paignton Bike Night 13th August

I used to go 10/15 years ago before it was marshalled and before the speed-traps were in force but I won't have to worry too much about speeding if I'm on the M20. I've been to Hunters Lodge in Wincanton, Somerset a few times and have promised my daughter Poppy a trip there sometime. Paignton, Poole or Wincanton - I hope to visit at least one of them this year.

Re: Paignton Bike Night 13th August

My parents lived in Bournemouth for the last 30 year, so whenever I was down there I went to Poole Quay on a Tuesday evening. Great pubs along there and worth a look. But I must say, like Ron, I got a bit fed up with the same thing everytime.

In Gloucestershire we have the "Cotswold Bikers Nite" which is at a different pub each week on a Wednesday. http://www.bikersnite.com/pub-list.php

The "Cotswold Bikers Nite" started when the Cotswold section of the VMCC got fed-up with a few hundred modern bikes turning up at there pubs, so they stopped advertising where they were going. This did back-fire on the VMCC at first because there next meeting had about 10 vintage bikes turn up and the pub had layed on extra staff and a hog roast etc. So the "Bikers Nite" was born with no discrimination about what bike you can turn up on. Usually 300-600 bikes on a sunny evening. This has worked out really well as the VMCC could advertise there pub without fear of being over run, but if you want you can ride from one to the other Sometimes the two groups have a joint meeting which is good.

Looks like our Paignton gathering is going to be postponed until another Wednesday.
