Engine shaft shim

I just aware that I have made a mistake install the shim at the timing side valve. Installed between the flywheel and inner bearing. I have check at the part list that shim is only at the drive side. Is it correct if I install the shim in between flywheel and inner bearing drive ?
I stripped the engine part too long and could not remember the earlier position.

Re: Engine shaft shim

Rofiq,

If you are talking about a M20 engine the shim (or oil baffle) is fitted as you say between the flywheel and the inner bearing on the drive side only.

Re: Engine shaft shim

Hi Tim

Yes I am talking about M20. Just to make clearly understand that you mention "oil baffle" it is not same with oil flinger. Am I right ?

Re: Engine shaft shim

Would this drawing help Rofiq? 114 is the oil flinger up against the drive side flywheel, 109 is a thin oil shield for the outside drive side bearing. Ron
PS you might have to click on the picture to centralise it?

Re: Engine shaft shim

Rofiq,

As Ron's drawing, i called it an oil baffle but i meant the oil flinger between the drive side bearing and the flywheel.
