Help identifying stop/tail light - UTILUX Australia

Hi Everyone,

I recently went for a ride on the M20 and returned home with no tail light lens (or new $25 LED tail light bulb either!).

Is anyone able to help me identify the type of tail light or have any idea where I could get a spare lens from?

As shown on the mount, it's a UTILUX Australia light, and has a connector instead of just the wires leading into it like the standard Lucas MT110. The missing lens was conical, and restrained (poorly) by a circular spring clip as shown in the pics below.

I've had no luck googling around for what the type of tail light it is, let alone for spares.

Cheers,

Matt

Hi Matt,
Your light does not look familiar to me, if anything it looks like an old truck number plate light.
Sorry can`t help.

Hi Matt. Surely you could adapt another lens to fit? Try an old Miller bicycle dynamo tail lamp lens or similar.

Do see those tail lights at swap meets occasionally they were a real cheapie and the red lense cover is a very thin plastic secured in a rough fashion by a wire C. I think they were fitted as David suggest to trucks or tractors as well. I did have a lense a while ago laying around but might have got rid off it. Some of the glass bicycle type lenses about are thick glass and hard to see the brake light through it when its on.

Checked my shed no longer have a lense. I would try Auto Surplus in Mitcham Victoria 03 98733566 or Antique Motor Spares in Wingfield S/Aust on 08 82685540. Or get a replica MT110. John

I just cut up an old lense lying around.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.

Thanks for checking in your shed, John. I'm from SA and wasn't away of Antique Motor Spares up at Wingfield. I'll have to head up and have a look, I just watched the video on his horde.. amazing.

I know there's the replica MT110 option, but I wanted to find out what the light that I had was, and if another one or spare lenses were available. Good to know that they weren't just a motorcycle option and were more of a generic part.

The light's been on there since my Grandpa had the bike, so I'm guessing that the mount wasn't up to holding the much heavier & larger LED bulb in place, and it's come loose and pushed the lens out of its very flimsy mounting.

Cheers,

Matt

Matt his shop is a must see for any car or motorbike enthusiasts. I have called in a couple of times after I have been to the Balhannah Swapmeet. Mainly has car parts but could easily have your tail light complete or a replacement lense.

John

Hello Matt, my M20 has this tail light. 1942 year. From Queensland. Always wondered what type of lens this is.

John.
