Hello, for some while I am trying to figure out what type of fork has been attached to my Triumph 3sw, my first British motorcycle. I would prefer to sell those non-original fork parts, insteed of throwing them away.





The bike came from "Dutch Lions" and they are currently selling this 3HW with a similar non-original front fork.

Oliver, that is a model 1949 Matchless front fork, but the wheel is a 1941 model, and those don't normally work in the 1949 type forks, exept when you modify the left fork leg a bit, or they might have swapped the leg out for the earlier model.

More pictures of the left leg and brake plate anchoring would help.

Thanks - It came with an extra "original" girder fork, but that one turned out to be a Royal Enfield WD CO. Three historic british motorcycles for the price of one...

Is the top plate with the three big nuts Matchless or home made?

Lex, with Matchless you are refering to the olive 3HW? My 3SW seems to have a different type of fork.

Yes, the olive one, did not see another picture, till you posted the new one, that looks a bit like Matchless, but only the bottom parts, the top I do not recognize, maybe BSA?? with all the speedo mounting stuff ground off, anyway, not something desirable I would think, too modified!

A better side view would help!

Rick, the court sentenced me to restore british military motorcycles: only half the profit compared to Harley WLA´s or 1/3 of Zündapp´s and BMW´s, only 5% available spare parts, manuals drawn by kids, terrible reproduction parts from your former colonies...and so on. Quite a harsh sentence, just for a selling a few pounds of Radium to Saddam.

Chris, the WDCO fork/fender needs some further work and then I will try to sell it for a rediculous high price.
