My G3L has the same stamp (different date though). I was told the engine was rebuilt at an "Eastern Command" workshop on the date stamped. I believe the "O" refers to the location.

The question about the stamping of EC02, I can firmly tell you that it was the code for 14 Command Workshop REME, Ashford, Kent, later it was known as 44 Command Workshop REME. EC does indeed mean Eastern Command. I have stamped that code many times on items that we rebuilt there.
