I've seen the light...but what colour should it be?

When an MT110 was supplied for use on a WD machine was the 'body' of the light finished in gloss black, matt black (as some WD lights are) or in the appropriate Drab finish for the period?....Ian

The pre-war parts lists show it as the MT110 SG (Service Green)

Mine was in KG No.3 as per the bike so it appeared to change with the service colour.

Colour options would appear to be gloss bronze green, 'dull green' for a short period in 1939 and then KG No.3 - I doubt that they were still being fitted in the SCC No.2 period.

Number plate brackets (back and front) where fitted were civilian gloss black (on Nortons at least).

Ian. I've never actually seen an ex WD MT110. The ones that I have had or seen were all satin black.
Looking through some original B&W pictures, I can see that very early wartime bikes that still have the civy rear number plate have a black MT110.
Whereas bikes fitted with the rear lamp bracket seem to have the lamp painted the same as the bike. Like these Enfields.

I think artistic licence prevails, to paint it to please yourself, since your bike would probably not have had one anyway. Ron

On all B4 photo's they are Khaki green No.3!!

There's no such thing as artistic license Ron!!

There has to be some artistic licence, since we have to fit number plates where there weren't any at the time. Some guys even have to fit gay blue ones
