The M23 project is rather nice. Not the last, by any means as they were produced even after the commencement of hostilities but the numbers fit. You'd only have to break a ratty old M20 to finish it off !
Is the timing paper sticker inside the cover a BSA item or used by other manufacturers ?
The machine was delivered in May 1939 and the magdyno bears the date code '29' which conforms with the usual 2 - 3 month delay between component manufacture and production of the motorcycle.
It seems that prior to 1940, Lucas didn't use a 'decade' year and '9' represents '1939'
