There is a campaign to designate the Normandy beaches as World Heritage Sites, and although the sceptic in me suspects that the Franch tourist industry is keen to mantain interest in visiting the invasion beaches, it seems like a good idea to me...

Waterloo's in Belgium of course (but the French-speaking part). If you visit, you'd come away thinking that Europe's first mad corporal had won. Everything's named after him.
