Terry saddle badge

Hello all,

I am looking for information about these 2 saddle badges;

Can anyone tell me which badge is correct for a WD Bike (Norton?)
Lex or Rob perhaps?

Many thanks in advance,

Sven

Re: Terry saddle badge

Neither I think, I thought Nortons had Lycett saddles.

Re: Terry saddle badge

Careful Sven...You don't want your Norton to end up with an M20 saddle ... ....(Glad to hear the boxes arrived in time for your visit)....Ian

Re: Terry saddle badge

Nortons generally fitted Terry saddles pre-war to the non-sporting models but the WD parts lists always seem to refer to a WD Lycett pattern saddle.

However, the covers do look different and it's possible to see from many wartime photos that Terry saddles were fitted.

My 1939 16H didn't seem to have been touched since it was abandoned in 1940 and had a Terry fitted with KG No.3 frame. I have no reason to doubt its originality. It's definitely a Norton saddle.

It looks to me as if the badge was originally tinned or silvered.

Re: Terry saddle badge

Hi Roy,

I already had these, but I'm afraid we both look for Lycett badges now....
or you must want to have your Beeza original with a nice original Terry Badge!

I have one now, but it's for trade against an original Lycett only.

Regards,

Sven

Re: Terry saddle badge

Lycett saddles have aerolastics under the cover whereas all the others used springs.

A Lycett vframe is identified by the rear frame section having slots for the elastic hooks, the others just have holes.
