Today there was a programme on the radio about it...amazing stuff and an illustration of how these early Arctic and Antarctic explorers really put their lives on the line, without the benefit of modern equipment or detailed knowledge of the function of the human body in those conditions.....Ian
And a chartered Russian ship with mostly Australian scientists on it and tourists commemorating their trip is stuck in the ice, A Chinese ice breaker got within six kilometres of them but had to back off due to fear of being trapped as well. An Australian ice breaker ship is heading towards them but several days off. From news reports here it appears all on board are enjoying the drama.
Hi John...That was on the daily news here in Blighty..They interviewed one of the guys on the Aussie ship and he didn't seem overly worried...But that was before the Chinky icebreaker gave up..Now they've probably started eating the Huskies... ....Ian
