Another formation sign question 4/7th Dragoon Guards

Taking into account the 1942 directive that formation signs were not to be used on motorcycles.
Does anyone have any idea as to how a motorcycle attached to "B" Squadron 4/7th Dragoon Guards would have been appeared in early 1942 prior to this directive.
Thanks

Re: Another formation sign question 4/7th Dragoon Guards

4/7 DG were Divisional cavalry for 2nd Infantry Division with the BEF in 1940 but after returning to the UK, they bacame part of the newly formed 9th Armoured Division.

Formation sign was a Panda face and as senior regiment of the senior brigade, they would have displayed the serial '51' on a red background.

Do you have a copy of Gavin Birch's 'Motorcycles at War' ? Pages 52-53 include four pictures of M20s with 9th Armoured Provost on Exercise Limpet. These show '43' on a black ground but have picked up the white edging used on the formation sign.

The IWM numbers are H21879 / H21880 / H21903 (Birch quotes the same number for two different images)

This is a nice distinctive formation sign, not often seen on restored vehicles as the division did not serve overseas.
