on the b31 cams I have there is a V stamped on the cam side I have seen some m20/b33 cams with an E on the cam size what does this signify

Hi Roger...I don't know what these marks signify..They may be related to gear tooth tolerances if the parts were selectively assembled.
Previous clearance tests with various new parts leads me to believe this was the case, with gears being matched in sets...
However, these marks may not relate to that at all as there are no similar markings on intermediate gears/mag drive gears/crank pinions.....
They may alternatively be inspection marks of some sort...
Whatever the meaning the cams are identical, except for Gold Star variants which are all numbered...Ian
