Arnhem 2014

With Normandy 2014 booked, I've been thinking about other events next year and wondered if anyone could let me know a bit more info about an Arnhem related trip next year ?
I've looked at a couple of websites which don't give a newcomer like myself enough info and someone I spoke to thought the entry to one of the events might be £500 which goes towards transport costs for the heavy stuff. Sadly, that prices me out .

Should I go for the double next year?

Re: Arnhem 2014

Hi Lee,

I don't know who mentioned the GBP500 ish, but with an entry price of GBP500 no Dutchy would attend!!

Have a look on this website;
http://omg2014.allunited.nl/index.php?page=Home&lang=EN

It collects all smaller events around this big event and you can make your plan. I'm sure that you can take part in more events than you handle without any costs and that you will regret it if you stay at home.

Perhaps it's a good idea if we open a thread on this forum to share our plans so we can look at the possibility of arranging a meeting somewhere of the WD Forum members/visitors? Of course this would be the afterparty of our GBOR attempt in Arromanche in June 2014......

Regards,
Sven

Check out this one-

Could be interesting.
Cheers, Mick.

Re: Arnhem 2014

I emailed both the XXXCorps and OMG2014 organisers and although I've yet to hear from OMG, the XXX event appears to be full already with bike allocation exceeded.
Any tips/hints/recommendations for September 2014?

Re: Arnhem 2014

Are there two different groups doing exactly the same tour in Holland next year?

Re: Arnhem 2014

Hi Rob

One of the organisers of Project70 has answered this point on another forum, post number 14.

http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?36636-XXX-Corps-run-September-2014/page2

My opinion (others may see it differently)from what I have read there and on other sites the 'OMG' event, is pretty much the event that has been running for a few years and is predominantly, but not solely, supported by Dutch MV Clubs. The majority of the vehicles in the past that have been on that event have been US ones. My reading of things is that this is likely to be similar in 2014. Project70 is an attempt to redress the balance and re-enact the British XXX Corps run and will be a strictly British vehicle/personnel event, due to the real convoy to the bridge being a British not US action. The two events will not be sharing sites etc so I understand. The OMG event in the past has been known for being a bit of a 'circus cavalcade' and has attracted some criticism (not from me) for being lacking in historical accuracy and respect for the actual events. A bit of a 'hey look at me and my big flag' type thing, so I am told. It perhaps says something, to those of us who have not been before, that the Dutch Army have taken on board Project70 as one of their official events, and not OMG. If others understand things different please let us know.

Re: Arnhem 2014

Thanks Duncan, I think I can see the situation now.
