Info sought on Royal Engineers 59th Mechanical Equipment Company June 1944?
Hi All,
I'm Just doing a bit of digging into what my grandfareher would have been up to at the Normandy landings in 1944. He was in the Royal enginerers and I see by his service records that he was posted to the 59th Mechanical equipment company on 03 Jun 1944, I believe that they landed at Gold beach. If I can manage to get the bikes finished before June 2014, I'd like to visit some of the places that he would have been when I'm over there.
Any information that anyone would have would be greatly appreciated!

You might find more by signing up and posting the question on somewhere like 'WW2 Talk'. They have a multitude of sections including RE. Perhaps more chance of a range of answers? There are some very knowledgeable and helpful individuals on there, regarding that aspect of things. Bike questions, - post here everytime! :-)
