Henk Not too sure if you have a photo of this type of Air Cleaner. I have only seen one once, on this bike. Don't know if they were Post War or not? Anybody know? Regards - Jon
Hi Jon, I have a few war time Norton 16H photos that appear to have this model air filter. These photos not not that clear but they seems pretty similar. I have seen an M20 with such an air filter before and it could very well be this very BSA during Founders Day a few years ago. Henk

I think they were for an early Indian contract of 16H's. I prefer that to the tank mounted Volkes. Ah just checked the WD Norton site, here ya are http://www.wdnorton.nl/Air_Cleaners.htm

Here's an example of another variation made for the Australian Army - first time I have seen one on a bike. The bike is up on eBay at the moment - 261270496455 (don't know the owner - perhaps someone who visits the forum?) These were locally made later in the war - this blueprint is dated 4-7-44.

hi - first post . i am the new owner of this bike. just have to collect it from mid NSW.(Australia) - probably in a few weeks. as i am in melbourne -so a 800 mile drive each way. the frame numbers indcate it a late 1942 bike. and puts it in the middle of the frame numbers for the other 1942 australian (owned) bikes on this site-. This one isnt on the list interesting that you have the blue prints for the aircleaner. when i get it, i'll put up some more photos -of bike and aircleaner. saw a similiar aircleaner on a WDM20 - at Maldon (vic)at the ABR this year . (may have even been this bike) - will have to check my photo files.
Nice looking bike, any chance of a close up of the brass plate on the toolbox please? Rob
