Re: Kettenkrad on Ebay

'Very original, may have late 40s engine'....Isn't that a contradiction in terms...?..Looks very neat and tidy though....Ian

Re: Kettenkrad on Ebay

at the end of the ad it would seem he has another.

As for that Brough, there is a name in the advert that I would avoid at all costs.

Re: Kettenkrad on Ebay

Does Bob Fleming own it? I do know that he had a white one about 4 years ago. I'm sure that he told me that someone in the Czech Republic was reproing them.

Re: Kettenkrad on Ebay

How convenient for the Brough story that the missing original parts that got 'damaged in the accident' were the numbered frame and the numbered crankcase half...For a minute there I thought it might be a bitza...I was obviously mistaken ....Ian

Re: Kettenkrad on Ebay

I have many stories from my own days as a bike restorer concerning Broughs, not all of them complimentary.

The word 'orginal'when applied to Broughs is mostly an oxymoron.

A lot of bikes have been sacrificed to provide Enfield hubs,Sturmy gearboxes and other parts to 'restore'

Theres a lot of money to be made from Broughs, and often from paying neither tax nor VAT like I had to.

no names no pack drill.

Can be had for half the price of the Ebay one.

Re: Kettenkrad on Ebay

Lex, what do you reckon 'NSU' stands for ? 'Norton Spares Used', 'No Sodding Use' or 'Non Specific Urethritis' ?

Re: Kettenkrad on Ebay

Rik, Norton Spares Used, is very appropriate!!

My 1935 250 OSL, has many Norton like features!

One day I'll have to finish this resto! not much more to do, wiring, exhaust, cables etc.

Cheers,

Lex

ps, recently heard a nice one for DKW "Das Krankenhaus Wartet"
(for non german reading people: The Hospital Awaits!)
