Hi Henk
I think by now the paint of those parts is dry
so you can remove them, so you can blast them
in the right color

Re: Forum picture

Hi Henk

Have you got any more photos of the engine crate? I'm tempted to make one but not sure if the wife will let me use it as a coffee table in the lounge

Same crate, no engine?? Have some Matchless crates for sale, can take to W&P.

Cheers,

Re: Forum picture

Thanks Lex. I must admit to being tempted by the Matchless boxes but I'm not at W&P this year. Plus, I might end up looking for a Matchless to go with the boxes and the wife would go bananas!

I have a similar number stamped on my breather and the original number looks to have been removed. Would this have been a recon engine and was it common practice to renumber them?

Re: Forum picture

Ps. Is that more lettering on the top of the box?

Re: Forum picture

I have a crate that I got an Army reconditioned gearbox in...Mine's painted green with white stencilling though and it isn't as clear and pristine as that one..Is it genuine or a 'replica'? and if it's genuine do you think 2.57 is the date?....Ian

Re: Forum picture

Hi Ian,

The engine is dated "January 1960": ECO2 is the workshop, and 1 - 60 is the date.

Cheers,
Jan
