my m20 will not run on idle with airslide fully open. it run great in high speeds. i find it wery hard adjusting the carb with the airslide partly open.
It sounds to me like the idle jet, which is drilled to the side
of the carb bottom insert is clogged.
This is usually why you need to compensate with the choke,
and usually use the tickler to start even when engine is hot.
On open throttle the action of the idle jet is not noticeable
compared with the much bigger main jet/
