Is there part numbers for gearbox shims?
for selector shaft and layshaft?

Hi Maxwell,just had a quick look on Russell motors web pages,listed are
15-4234 shim .024" not available
15-4235 shim .022" £1.50
66-3071 mainshaft shim .005"

oh yea found it,
looks like those are pawl carrier shims

Hi Maxwell...WD parts lists show the mainshaft shims as 66-3071 (.005") and 66-3072 (.010") in the early lists..Mid war lists only have the .005" shim listed. The post war (49-54) list shows both again.
WD lists also show the pawl carrier shims 15-4234 and 15-4235 which are not listed in the post war lists.
Post war lists additionally show 66-3086 gear control shaft packing washer and 66-3087 gear control shaft bush packing washer...neither of these appear in the WD lists...
Finally, none of the parts lists I looked at showed layshaft shims..though they frequently need them and I have had plenty of boxes with them fitted...odd....Ian

I.ve never liked the idea of using thin shims on anything that has spinning surfaces.How come they don't disintegrate in short time?

The shims sit under the bushes so not against any moving parts.
