I know this has been posted before but Just got round this weekend to sorting out My Three tanks that have to be repainted, that have got to have the petseal removed, don't feel inclined to line petseals AKA autocycle pockets with any more of my money, so looking for a cheap remover, will acetone remove this stuff cos I can buy a gallon for twelve pounds or so Andrew.h.
Yes it should do Andrew, acetone is the stuff that was provided in a kit my mate bought and it did the job. If you have good paintwork you need to cover it well. When I put sealer in my tank the kit said cover the paintwork with cling film with several coats, then baking foil, then cling film. I taped around the filler neck and made a hole in the top. Obviously you need to plug the petrol tap hole before doing this It's a very messy job getting the old sealer out and my mate's was coming out in big chunks. One of which wouldn't fit though the hole so he had to cut bits off it until it did.
Don't use acetone on a fibreglass tank, it will melt it.
