1942 BSA M20 Carb Spacer

HI I have a 1942 BSA M20 and was wondering if anyone knew the correct measurements for a carb spacer for this year motorcycle. I see that Dranganfly has one on there and have seen other M20's with that spacer, and have seen ones on this forum that seem to be smaller/thinner that the one from draganfly.

Re: 1942 BSA M20 Carb Spacer

The spacer you find in the parts list is a very thin one and this one can give your overheating problems when the weather is VERY nice. This spacer is about 1,5 mm and I did try these on my bikes only to replace them with a much thicker one to avoid problems during summer trips. Mine is now I guess 1/2" and works fine even when really hot. Only problem is that your carb studs are probably to short.

Russell in London still used to have these thin spacers in stock a little while back.

I use 1/4" thick spacers without problems...Ian

Hi Ian,

Do you need longer studs for a 1/4" spacer?

I made one up out of thin ply the day before Normandy 65th, ran with that for about 2 years, worked fine..suppose you should really use the right one though
