Hello, I am fixing a 42 G3L from scratch. Starting with the engine and gearbox. I managed to get the shine back on the crankcase and gearbox. I used a Scotchbrite and scrubbed them real hard. What is the process to polish the brass parts on the engine (I hope the breather pipe nut, the 2 oil tubes and few other parts are brass/copper). Is buffing the option or can I use some kind of a solution to brighten this. Please help.
Any tips that I can take while fixing the crankcase?
Thanks Ron, and for the nuts, bolts and studs we go for dull chroming right?
Regards
Pratap
Actually no and no, no polished crancases, mostly painted green or brown, and all hardware Cadmium plated, Matchless hardly ever used dull chrome, maybe some on early 1939/40 G3WO's.
Hi Ron/Lex, wish I could go with the military trim, sadly the transport Officer here might not give a green signal. Have a few docs to be cleared for road worthiness. I have a M20 BSA which will definitely have military colors.
Any idea what number plate clamps (Front) were standard on civil Matchless motorcycles?
