WM20 Front mudguard and stand

Hi, I have started to rebuild a 1940 BSA WM20 and wonder if someone could let me know the length of the front mudguard stay(stand) from the centre of the bolt where it fits to the girder fork , to where it is bolted to the rear of front mudguard.
I dont know if mine is original as the mudguard apears to be too close to the frame and quite a large gap between mudguard and tyre.

Thanks for your help
Paul

Re: WM20 Front mudguard and stand

You might need a spacer between the top of your mudguard and the front fork. They made changes to the length of the forks and the longer forks need a spacer. Without the spacer the front mudguard won't fit properly. This spacer is 1/2" in length.

Re: WM20 Front mudguard and stand

Thanks Henk

Tried a spacer but mudguard still doesn't look quite right. Maybe its the wrong one for the bike. Think I will have to do more research at museum or shows.

Will post some photos when I eventually learn how to do it.
