adjusting gear 3-4 distance

Hey Folks,
Doesn't any perhaps has a description of how to bring more distance between the gears? Number 3 and number 4 are to close, so missing the fourth happens when paying not enough attention (esp. in common traffic). Adjusting the clutch isn't what I mean. It's really an adjustment of (in) the gearbox. Any one who recognises this problem?
Thanks,
Peter

Re: adjusting gear 3-4 distance

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to say, but have you checked the little plunger behind the selector mechanism isn't jammed? This can cause a few missed gears as sometimes it is missed out completely on rebuilds, or it can get a little bit rusty and sticks in the depressed position. This allows the selector to go beyond its central position and miss the gear

They can be pretty worn also.

Peter,

I would adjust the gear change rod. Since you cannot "reach" 4th gear, one turn inwards
