I've read an account by a survivor of Goodwood. it sounded one of the most awful battles I've ever heard about. people would survive one desperate engagement and then have to go into another and so on. goodness knows what the effects were like on those who survived, let alone the poor soldiers who were badly wounded or killed. peter
