Sorry it not a WD bike, but Id appreciate if the electrical experts could point me in the right direction.
Its a Norton model 19 (600 cc OHV single). With the engine and lights off, the ammeter shows 8 amp discharge. If I put the the lights on the ammeter goes off the dial. If I start the engine the ammeter shows normal charging.
So am I right in thinking this something to do with the cut out switch? And is fixable buy me? What sort of problem do I need to look for?
Hi Peter
Sounds like the Cut out is not releasing when the engine stops thus the battery then tries to drive the dynamo hence the 8amp drain.
I have sent you an email with the Lucas service sheets for the MCR2 regulator and cut out attached.
Its too complicated to talk you through it in an email but the attached PDF should see you sorted.
