Post WW2 Registration (24 YD 15)

Hi all,

Could anyone tell me to which motorbike the post war registration 24 YD 15 was issued to? There's a data plate on my BSA M20 which mentions this registration number but i'm not 100% sure that it belongs to this M20 because the chassis number doesn't match and there's no date on the dataplate. Does anyone have any info about this dataplate/ registration?

here are some pictures.

Re: Post WW2 Registration (24 YD 15)

Hello Niek,

24YD15 had framenumber 120556, don't have the M20 framenumberdata handy here, but sure others will give the answer.

Was sold in Germany in 1959

Re: Post WW2 Registration (24 YD 15)

Hi Niek,

Looked again at your pictures and saw a KM20 number on the framelug in front of the engine. That looks like an original number to me and that would mean that at least your front frame is from 1939 and could explain all the other early bits like the big tank, oil tell tale, rubber mounted handlebar etc. Looks like you got yourself a 1939 KM bike with a few later wartype parts fitted.

If you post a picture of the WM20 number you found and a close up of the KM20 number, then it is probably possible to see which is originally stamped.

Regards, Michiel
