I think that qualifies as false advertising

Has it only got a front brake?

Re: And later they fitted a Speed Twin engine...

Incredibly.. ..none of the period photos he has posted show the parabike with the 'phsycomaster' fitted..apart from the photo shopped one...The press must have missed the launch of this exciting new model back in 46... ...Ian

Re: And later they fitted a Speed Twin engine...

Somewhere in all that "propaganda" he admits to having to bend the rear forks to fit the engine!

Re: And later they fitted a Speed Twin engine...

Hi,in this instance personally i think the comments are a bit derogatory to the item and seller. This guy offers for sale the most extraordinary vehicles you
will ever encounter. Also he details every aspect of the item he is offering
in a separate web -page,encompassing its entire history as far as he can research.
He often sells military bikes, push bikes and anything out of the ordinary. To slate a guy for one item that he may or may not have constructed ,is prolly a bit unfair.
his web-site Buyvintage@mac.com may offer a few other gems for discussion,but a
read through his research is well wortwhile.

Re: And later they fitted a Speed Twin engine...

Hi Rick

My comment was based on safety, if a bicycle needs 2 brakes and you then triple its weight and give it a motor, less brakes is bad, but perhaps there is another one inside the rear motor assembly?

And the photoshopped picture of the para riding one like this is at the very least misleading.

Re: And later they fitted a Speed Twin engine...

It looks like he's photoshopped one of the posters as well!

Re: And later they fitted a Speed Twin engine...

This appears to be a con, fair and square, in my opinion..The question is did this thing ever get built at the time and is the history described for it accurate?..If not it is simply a case of constructing a fictional a history to suit the object being sold. That would indicate a clear and deliberate intention to deceive.. The fact the vendor has been more honest with other items is irrelevant to this sale.....Ian

Re: And later they fitted a Speed Twin engine...

The photoshopping is very poor as the shopped in wheel does not line up with the original and the background is different from the rest of the picture. It is possible that somebody has taken a bog standard parabike and added a Cyclemotor at some point. Why invent a fake history, unless to illegally increase the selling price?

Re: And later they fitted a Speed Twin engine...

And as Keith pointed out, he's even photoshoped one of the posters, but the wheel is in backwards in one of the bikes in the poster as he must have only had an image of the wheel from one direction.
He's had to make the engine fit the bike and make up the posters and pictures of the para bike with the engine, therefore it's a blatant con.

Re: And later they fitted a Speed Twin engine...

Surely a Winged Wheel would have been much more appropriate for a parabike (and made by BSA too!!)

Re: And later they fitted a Speed Twin engine...

OK,
So the seller only put it there as a reference..

Q&A in eBay-

Q:
Hi dear seller,

Is the paratrooper photo real, or photoshped?

Thanks, Noam.

-------------------------
A:
Shalom Noam,
Ma nishma?
The original photo is quite well-known on the internet, and i have included the original in the ebay description so that people can compare it to my one with a photoshopped engine.

I have to say that, after fitting one of these engines to a bike physically and also digitally, digital is easier :)

All the best, Colin

Re: And later they fitted a Speed Twin engine...

Hi Noam

So he has admitted to you that he fitted the engine himself?

But your question and answer hasn't appeared on the listing.

Re: And later they fitted a Speed Twin engine...

Hi Rob,

Yes, in the page there is a "mail seller" Or something like that,
and you mail the seller directly, via eBay.

The Q&A do not appear in the eBay page,
But what I put here, in my last post is 1:1 copy-paste
Of my question and the reply..

sent it to you to your mail.

Noam.

Hi Rob, when a seller is asked a question, they have the choice whether to post it on the listing or not. He's obviously decided not to show people this question.
