There isn't anything too complicated with the dynamos, look at is as simply a mechanical job to get the armature out and just get a motor rewinders to test the armature on a growler. The field coil and armature are available on ebay, as are the brushes. If you aren't sure, as a rough guide the armature will probably be ok unless there is any physical damage or it smells burnt out. If you are completely unsure simply buy an armature and field coil and brushes and fit them making sure the bearings are ok. It may help you to take photos of the wiring connections before you start.

gale at Blue spark Magnetos just out of Melbourne came highly recommended by a friend who has been riding his B31 for 40 years. I have not used her yet but have seen her work and and have spoken with her. She knows her stuff, her father has a brilliant collection and even makes tanks fork links etc
Cheers Darren
Thanks for the advise. Is there a website for Blue Spark magnetos. Nothing comes up on the google.
I am at the end of my patience with this dynamo. I've tested everything, armature and coil. Tried different connection configurations, flashed the feild ect, but still no voltage. Dynamo motors nicely in the correct direction. If I buy an aftermarket armature, is there a recommended brand, or supplier??
Thanks Keith

I will get her number for you tonight. Gale can rewire your armature, apparently to a higher spec than the original Lucas wiring.
A few people is our Beeza club her swear by her.
Cheers Darren
Good to hear Mark. Let us know how you get on.
I have always done my own Mag work, but these dynamos can be hit or miss.
I had similar problems before with my B31. I wanted to retain original dynamo, and regulator. I had the dynamo overhauled (cant recall where)and when it came back, and I was able to get the charging system working correctly with the original mechanical regulator.
Thanks Keith
