Hi all

On the lower rear guard stay (m20) there is a stud fixing which attaches to the outer pannier stay arm

The stud on mine has pulled through & somehow i have got to helicoil it back to std which i believe is 5/16 cycle thread 26tpi

Can someone confirm this for me please

Where can i get a thread repair kit that doesnt cost the earth just to repair one stud hole or am i best to bite the bullet & buy a kit, they are £40 upwards i believe

Unfortunately John, thats how much they are! I have over £1000 worth of helicoil kits and believe me every time a customer comes in he wants a different size to an of the kits I've got! Just for the record I have BSF Cycle UNF UNC Metric some BA and some oddball ones such as 20mm x1.5mm ptch , 10mm 12mm 14mm and 18mm plug kits

Hi John...You could just grind/file it off and then get a sutable bolt welded in place after rounding off the head by hand...Ian
