Re: I have never seen such a tool, anybody any idea?
Like Ron says there is nothing to scale it by. However, if it was a spoke tool the flat end could also be used as nipples are slotted for a screwdriver as well having the square section...Ian
Re: I have never seen such a tool, anybody any idea?
I've been watching this and I'm not going to say what it is until the auctions over. There's no chance of getting anything cheap when it gets posted here, it's already at too much money for what it is
Re: I have never seen such a tool, anybody any idea?
This is the sellers reply.
Hi Ron,
Sorry I do not have a clue. Some years ago I purchased approx 2 tons of ex WD bike parts and there was a tray of these with other BSA & Triumph tools. thought I would list and see if anyone knew. I have had a number of bids so someone must know something.
Regards Mike
Re: I have never seen such a tool, anybody any idea?
Yes Rik, would have been nice to add to the tool roll. I've got most items now except the pressed steel spanners and this spanner. All items that people would throw away. This one went for £17.20 which is too much for what it is

Ian Wright
So what is it? ...Ian
It also fits the dynamo clamping band screw. It was a late-war addition so presumably introduced to deal with an access problem. I have no idea why the jaw has a squared-off form to deal with a hex-head fastener.
We had a thread dealing with W/NG toolkits which show that the Ariel tool didn't have the odd offset so maybe this one is specific Norton ? Mine is in the tool roll hiding behind the magneto spanner.
Re: I have never seen such a tool, anybody any idea?
Well the good news is he sent me a second chance offer and my bid was no where near the final auction price, so he must have had a few kicking around
I just need the small stamped out spanners now. Oh I forgot about the box spanners as well
