cast iron head thread repair

While restoring a basket case 1944 m20, i realize that the threads for the sparkplug are completely stripped.
I plan to use a new threaded bush. Is that OK - can anyone share their experience.
Also what the best material for the bush is?
I am told that a steel bush shall expand / contract similarly to cast iron.
Any further details would help

thanks

There are a plethoria of premade plug thread repair kits.
I use a solid one ( like a reducing bush ) for plugs as the wire ones anre nor necessarily gas tight.
Most of the solid ones have some sort of locking pin to stop them winding out with the plug.
If you use one it is essential that you lube the plug with some thing like copper slip/
I use nickel slip as it is formulated for higher temperatures than copper slip.
Not cheap but I use it a lot and have been working on a 2oz tin of each for about 5 years.

And to answer the question I use TIME CERT brand & have never had a problem with them.
