Oil Filter Norton 16H

Hi all,

removed my Oilfilter on the weekend and found out the mesh is defect.
The mesh is soldered into the front part, I could easyly remove it.

Any advise for me? Replace it with a new mesh or a different solution e.g only a magnet into the Oil tank to get rid of the metal parts?

Thanks a lot

Re: Oil Filter Norton 16H

Philip,

Get a small sheet of simiar size mesh and solder on. Not a very
hard repair since its only soldered.

Re: Oil Filter Norton 16H

Hinrik,

thanks, that was my first guess but I thought there is maybe a more modern solution. But if such a mesh solution is sufficient I am fine, shall be a quick fix. Any address where to get such fine mesh?

Re: Oil Filter Norton 16H

These sort of gauze strainers are used in industrial hydraulics. If you've got a supplier close then it might be worth having a look (someone like Hansaflex ?)

If not, the unions are the same diameter (same thread actually) as the banjo bolt strainers that were fitted to Norton Commando oil tanks up until the end. If you know anyone with some used Commando parts, you might be able to find one to cut the tube off.

Thanks Rik, I will have a look at a hydraulic supplier.
