the 1955-56 M20 used same carb but stamped: 376 021
the difference being :


cutaway 5
jet 240

needle position 3

Check with the seller for distortion at the manifold from previous overtightening, I've been sold several "perfectly good" carbs on ebay that were scrap.

Can you perhaps shed any light on a 376 I've recently bought off eBay?
It's a NOS 376 with no 'usage' reference. In other words, the only stamping on the mounting flange is 376. There's no forward slash and no other numbers.
Does this have any significance?

Hi Brooky, The numbers that appear along with '376' are Amal assembly codes which reflect the build spec. and therefore application at the time of manufacture. So 376 is the carb type..the rest is the carbs spec.
These (or the absence of them)can be ignored if a 376 is the right carb type for your bike and the choke size is correct for your application. If it is, then fitting the correct jets and a throttle slide with the correct cutaway etc. should make it OK to use...Ian

So all I need to do is check what I've got against the correct settings in the post above, make whatever alterations are necessary and I'm sorted!
