Fork spring stop 66-5151

I do not have the front fork spring stop. I have seen in the web that several bikes haven't it as well. Is it absolutely necessary? What is it for?
Thanks
Daniel

hi Daniel,Russell motors are listing your part at £6.00.i dont think BSA would have gone to the trouble of making it if it did nothing.

Re: Fork spring stop 66-5151

Thanks Rik. Obviously they didn't. My perplexity was coming from the fact that several bikes haven't it if you look at the pictures in the web. So I was wondering if there are differences between a bike made in 1940 or in 1943 e.g.
As nobody else has answered I suppose that I have to contact Russell.

Re: Fork spring stop 66-5151

Hi Daniel

Its shown in parts lists C6126 (1940) and S7218 (1945) so they should all have it.

Re: Fork spring stop 66-5151

I always thought these were fitted in case the fork spring collapsed then you could still manage to steer bike to a stop, without it fitted then the mudguard would foul the frame if spring broke..Dave...

Thank you Dave. Very kind of you.
