Hello fellow BSA -drivers!
Just bought this headlight cover on a Belgian fleemarket . It still has its nice bronze-green colour and black inside. But: by who and why has it been modified in this way? By the Belgian army to get a safer ride? Or was it just common practice in the (British) army? Am nosy about the answers.

I had an idea that we'd talked about this on the forum before (but I can't find it...)
Towards the end of hostilities and after air superiority was assured, blackout restrictions were progressively lifted and some late masks had a hinged flap. This one lools to be a 'field modification' to allow more light through.
It could well have been fitted to a motorcycle sold off post-war through the Ordnance depots in Belgium.
